Who is not suitable for Salicylic Acid Chemical Peel?

Salicylic acid peels should not be used by the following people:

  • people that have a history of salicylate allergies, which may include aspirin in certain cases
  • individuals who take isotretinoin (Accutane)
  • pregnant women with active dermatitis or itching on the skin

If a person has skin cancer, he or she should avoid using a salicylic acid peel on the affected region.

Salicylic acid peels have less side effects than most peels because they are milder. They may contain the following:

  • greater sun exposure
  • redness
  • slight tingling feeling
  • peeling
